The Power of Fervent Prayer

When I came on board with Equipping With Truth, I learned that this ministry is driven by eight core values. The number one core value is “Depend on God.We always start there because we know that God is the source of our hope, strength, guidance, provision, and impact . . . and we are utterly dependent on Him for the effectiveness of this ministry.

With that in mind, our U.S. staff spends extended time in prayer every Tuesday. Recently we came across an amazing book on prayer we’d like to share with you. The name of the book is Fervent by Priscilla Shirer. It was inspired by the feature film War Room (www.warroomthemovie.com, #warroomwatchparty).

Believing what Priscilla Shirer says, “Prayer is the fuel that drives everything,” our staff, both individually and corporately, are learning to meet Jesus in prayer in three ways: faithfully, personally, and punctually.  We have covenanted to pray with purpose and precision for one another, for all the EWT staff, and of course for you, our partners in ministry.  The team prays alongside the EWT Prayer Team, of which many of you are a valuable and cherished part.  And if you’d like to be part of that ministry, just send an email to prayer@equippingwithtruth.org and let us know if you’d like to be notified of prayer requests by email or text or both.

The battle is real.  Satan still wants to steal, kill, and destroy our focus, identity, family, and relationships.  As we have prayed, we have asked God for “courage, discernment, patience, diligence, and a laser-like focus” as Priscilla Shirer outlines in her book.  And we are encouraged because God has promised, “He will come to us like the rain, like the spring rain watering the earth.”  Hosea 6:3.

Priscilla asks how we can receive rain.  “Not by prying it loose from the sky, but just by watching it fall, by standing in the downpour, by thanking Him for opening up the floodgates and sending what He knows we need and can’t get for ourselves, yet what He so faithfully, regularly, and graciously gives.”

We can depend on God.  “My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.”  Psalm 62:6
