The People of Adekokola Celebrate the Gift of Clean Water
To see the joy on faces of people who have received the gift of clean water is a thrilling thing . . . and to watch them singing, dancing and testifying of this miracle in their lives.
That is what happened when our staff visited the community of Adekokola. Many of the women fell on their knees in thanks for their new water well. These people were overjoyed as they no longer had to walk miles every day and fetch dirty water from a contaminated spring. It had been the only source of water close enough to reach.
Grace testified, “It used to be so difficult as I had to walk so far. Even then the water was bad and gave me typhoid again and again. It made me suffer and feel so weak. I praise God, I no longer have typhoid and I’m strong.”
Wilson rubbed his belly, and said, “I used to drink dirty water and it caused me stomach pain. Now I drink clean water and feel so good.” He then ran his hand down the front of his shirt and added, “Now my clothes are clean and my wife likes me very much.”
Grinning as she leaned on her walking stick, Angelina added, “I am 71-years-old and have seen something I never dreamed to see . . . there is now clean water in every pot in my house. I feel so healthy and pray that you can continue to help many other people like me.”
