All Things Possible

“With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Matthew 19:26

Isn’t it amazing how sometimes when it seems like everything is falling apart, it is really falling together?  The things in our lives that seem like giant roadblocks are often actually things God is going to use for our good and His glory.

We have seen God at work in amazing ways recently at our village school.  Jimmy, our headmaster, has a genuine heart for God and for the children in Uganda.  Jimmy strives with his whole being to make the school a lighthouse in Uganda.  Jimmy is writing rich curriculum for the children so that during this time of shutdown, their academic and spiritual needs will continue to be met. Although the government is providing lessons on TV and radio, Jimmy is creating access to learning for our village children, with a focus on spiritual and academic growth.

Praise God, we have two dorms at the school, fresh and finished and finalized for children when they are allowed to go back!  The dorms are for the older children to access tutoring and for those children who cannot get to the school during the rainy season, or because of long distances. These dorms have been a positive shot in the arm and a huge encouragement to the entire community.

The teachers at the school are staying behind to tutor the children, even during the shutdown.  They are also continuing work in the garden (that is usually worked in by the students as part of their learning experience).  We thank God for the harvest from the garden that is coming soon!

On this side, work is being done on curriculum to help the older children develop good Bible study and Bible journaling habits. Also on on this side, a gift to purchase library books has been given to help children at the school have exposure to more books.  They will come to a designated classroom to read the books during the pandemic.  We are grateful for this generous gift!

We thank God for our new kitchen!  This was given as a gift from this side and has the capacity to serve over 500 children.  We thank God for our “Pig Project”!  We have “deluxe pig lodging” for the baby pigs the children will raise as they learn how to be self-sustaining in their work.

Colossians 2:6-7 says, “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” We do thank and praise our good, faithful God for the incredible things He continues to do, and for the way He is teaching us through things that seem impossible to us—but these things are indeed being used for His glory.
