Our Hope is in Him
Dear EWT Family,
I write this letter in hopes that you are feeling loved and supported during what seems to be something out of a science fiction movie. For sure, none of us could have ever anticipated what has so abruptly unfolded in our world. Many of you, if not all, have been greatly impacted by the pandemic, and it is my prayer that you are feeling the presence of the Lord more strongly in your lives than ever before.
The pandemic has now hit Uganda . . . just a few days ago. All schools have been closed for 30 days as well as all church services and other public gatherings. I ask you to pray for the people as there is so much fear. The medical system is so poor even under normal circumstances and so if the virus spreads, their access to the drugs and care will be so limited. Food prices have soared in a matter of days and there is already a food shortage because of hoarding. Surely, people are experiencing pain and hardship all over the world.
How wonderful it is to know where our help comes from in the midst of chaos, and it is during times like this that His strength and presence can be most evident in our lives. I am reading and meditating on the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) again and again. If only I could live up to such teachings. But as I meditate on it, it changes how I see the world and fills me with hope and strength. Chapter 6 itself is a medicine for my disease of worry. And what a reminder of how we can live triumphantly when it seems that our world is falling apart.
May the Lord bless you with His peace, love and supernatural strength. And may we rejoice in knowing what Scripture says, "In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us" (Romans 8:37).
Our hope is in Him!
