How Will You Emerge from COVID-19

I don’t know about you, but during the COVID-19 stay at home order, I’ve been challenged to THINK. Most of us are so busy with the “daily-ness” of life, we really don’t spend time THINKING.

Once during the quarantine (and after binge watching Netflix and cramming chocolate-covered almonds into my mouth, rapid-fire), I turned on Christian radio and heard the radio personality Carol Davis share about hosting Christian singer Danny Gokey in the studio recently during quarantine. He had left Carol with the question, “Will I emerge from COVID-19 as just BUSY, or will I emerge more FRUITFUL?”

That question resonated with me, so much in fact that during my quiet time, I jotted down what “fruitful” would look like for me. I am a former preschool and kindergarten teacher, so I keep things very simple and rarely count past three and so I wrote down three things.

This was the second thing I wrote down . . . “To possibly begin teaching or writing again (A GIANT question mark followed this one . . . hey, I’m retired, God. I’m old. I’ve done my time teaching young children and writing curriculum, right?)

I had barely put my pen down from writing my “three fruitful things” when the phone rang. It was my longtime friend, Betty Jo McLelland, Executive Director of EWT. She remembered that I used to do some writing. It seemed that in less than a day’s time, the Lord was providing an opportunity for the second thing on my list that He had impressed upon me.

I thank God for this new opportunity to serve Him and the EWT Family. One of my roles will be to help increase the fruitfulness of the ministry through PRAYER. For sure, prayer is what guides and empowers our lives, and gives us hope and strength when we don’t know what to do. With that in mind, the staff at EWT would like to be able to pray for you if there is a need in your life during this trying time. What an honor that would be for us! We would also like to ask you to consider joining our prayer team for the people of Uganda. Prayer will ignite things we thought were impossible.

I praise God for the Body of Christ!
