Lives are Being Transformed through our Village School
We are about to celebrate the five-year anniversary of NISSI Christian School, and I can honestly say that I would have never dreamed the village school we started under a tree would one day be educating 450 children and be considered one of the district’s most exemplary schools.
I want to shout, “God has been so good!” He has carried us every step of the way. For sure, there have been challenges that many of us could have never imagined . . . like caved-in latrines, food shortages, government roadblocks and all kinds of other things . . . but each and every time, God has made a way. He has flattened the mountains for these kids.
NISSI is now a full-blown primary school, with grades running from nursery to Primary 7. We have twelve classrooms, all filled with desks, books and teaching aids. Recently, we were able to construct a “world class” latrine . . . and if you think this isn’t important, let me tell you that it is.
I wish you could go to NISSI around noon. You would see kids smiling as they eat nutritious meals and then scoot off to play on swings and merry-go-rounds. You would see fat, sassy pigs in their pen, soon to be slaughtered to help with the cost of running the school.
Above all else, you would see beautiful boys and girls, all from poor families, being given a chance they thought they would never have. . . and their parents are standing taller and working harder because they are confident that the chains of poverty that have defined them for so long are finally being broken through their kids.
I thank God for NISSI and for all of our EWT partners who made this school possible. For sure, our best days are ahead as God goes before us!
For His Glory!
