Robinah is Top Girl in Region of Northern Uganda

Robinah is from a poor family and almost never went to school. As the youngest child, she watched as her older siblings, one by one, had to drop out. It wasn’t from a lack of effort on their mother’s part. Dorcas would rise early every morning to sell fire wood and crops from her garden so her kids could have an education, but a medical emergency, food shortage, or other crisis would always “eat up” their money.

By the time Robinah was nine, she too was about to give up. She had been chased from school more times than she could count for not paying tuition, and there was nothing her mother could do. But in 2014, things changed for Robinah. She was selected for our Child Sponsorship Program and a sponsor soon put Robinah in school. This was when Robinah’s life began to take a new direction.

It didn’t take long for Robinah’s academic giftedness to be recognized by her teachers. And over the next five years, she always performed at the top of her class. Recently, Robinah was named one of the top three girl students in the entire region of Northern Uganda. She had nearly a perfect score after taking the year-end exam that is given to all students completing primary levels. With only four regions in the country, Robinah is now considered one of Uganda’s prize students.

When we asked Robinah about her achievement, she told us that it was only by God’s grace . . . He was the one who sent her a sponsor who made it possible for her to go to school. It is a sobering reflection to think that Robinah’s abilities could have lied dormant if she had never been given this chance.

We praise God for what He has done in the life of Robinah, and in all our children’s lives. Each of them have their own unique gifts and abilities just waiting to come out.
