Yona is the middle child in a family of five siblings. His father died in 2001, and his mother has struggled since then to raise her children as a single parent. She works so hard on her farm to ensure that she can provide for her kids and send them to school, but, despite all her efforts, her income is insufficient.
Yona has completed his primary education and has been chosen by our school superintendent to receive a scholarship to help him attend secondary school. Not only was Yona one of the very top performers in his class; he also served as the spiritual development leader during his primary studies. He has already proven that he will excel if only given the opportunity to do so.
“I used to pray day and night to God to help me pass with a first grade and for Him to make a way for me to go to secondary school,” Yona said with a smile on his face. “I knew that my family is poor, and my mother has been struggling. I am so happy that God heard my prayers and has made a way for me.” You are that answer to this boy’s prayers, and the love of God made manifest in this family.
