The Gift of Clean Water has Given these People Back their Lives!

The people from Ajoni Village are continually thanking God for what He has done in their lives! After a lifetime of struggling for water, a well has been drilled in their midst.

One of the leaders there told us, “Since before our parents, nothing like this has ever happened to us! We have always had so many challenges, but now there is so much joy and happiness! We are thankful with all our hearts for this well and for this great thing God has done for us! We used to sleep without bathing and felt so bad and ashamed. The worst part was that fetching water took up all of our women’s lives.”

Before the well was drilled, the women had to walk long distances to the swamp where they had to stand in line and contend with animals that were drinking from the same source. The women were always tired and weary because their time spent fetching water consumed their day. Then, when they brought their water home, it was often filled with worms and always made the people in the community sick, sometimes causing serious illness and even death.

One of the ladies named Mildred shared, "Sometimes, during dry season, we went for water and there was none. We would take our hoes and search for water, and pray. Many times, we had to walk to the next district, but praise God, not anymore!!!"

 For the first time, people no longer fear where their water is coming from and women can now have time with their families and do other things besides walking all day to fetch water from a swamp. People are also experiencing good hygiene and health . . . and there is so much love, unity, and happiness. Even more, the people are growing in confidence because of all these blessings in their lives! It's no exaggeration to say that the gift of clean water has transformed their lives!
