Read How the Love of God is Changing Lives in Angetta!

Priscilla lives deep in the bush . . . it’s a place called Angetta where few people from the outside come. To get there, you travel down winding dirt roads that eventually narrow into broad paths . . . there is just enough space for your vehicle to squeeze through with bushes slapping your windshield as you travel along. When you go there, the first thought that comes to your mind is, “How did anyone ever find this place and will I ever find my way back home?”

We first encountered a few men from Angetta about a year ago. They were walking all day to attend one of our discipleship groups that was miles away in another sub-county. It was an exhausting journey, but these men were determined to learn more about God. They also wanted to take back the teachings and some Bibles to their own people. Their hunger for God was inspiring, and so we began to investigate who they were and where they were from.

We soon discovered a beautiful people who were suffering from much lack. In every village, people were drinking dirty water from swamps because there were only a few water wells in the entire region. Everyone was dealing with water-born illnesses and there was little medical care accessible for them. Their schools looked like mud shells, and their churches were inwardly struggling. Pastors had big hearts but little Bible knowledge to lead and guide their people.

We thank God for the change that has been taking place in just one short year since our first visit. Many Bibles have been given out and discipleship groups are multiplying and thriving. Leadership training is going on, and a third water well is about to be drilled. Priscilla told us, “The only time I have ever seen a water well in my life was when I lived in a refugee camp during the war. But never have I seen one again. This is something God has sent to us and shows how much He loves us. We are all feeling His love."

Last month, we had a gathering in Angetta with nearly 2,000 people streaming down paths from scattered villages. Everyone was exuberant . . . they had come to celebrate the goodness of God in their lives! One of the leaders (Joel) told us, "Now there is joy and peace instead of strife and sorrow. Men are learning how to treat their wives and our families are learning to have respect. Everyone is experiencing God's love and this is changing all of us!"

How we thank God for all that He is doing in Angetta and for all that is ahead for these beautiful people. Surely, there is power in God's wonderful love!!!
