Our Sewing Ladies are Filled with Hope!
There is nothing better than being around a grateful heart. It’s contagious, lifts you up, and unlocks joy and happiness inside. That is how the women in our tailoring program make you feel. Once you meet them, you feel a gravitational pull, luring you to drop in on them whenever you can. Every one of these women thought nothing good would ever come from their lives . . . but now, here they are, with a bright future ahead of them. Ten of them completed their training a year ago, and ten more are now in training. May it warm your heart to hear from a few of them.
Monica, who is currently in training, told us, “I always had so many worries in my mind because I was an orphan. I had to drop out of school because no one had any interest in me after my parents died. I struggled so much and never expected something good in my future. Then one day I went to Bible study and began learning God’s Word, and that He loved me. It started changing me. Then I was chosen to join the tailoring program, and I have been training so well. Now I feel so good and there is such a great change in my life. I give glory to God for the future he has given me.”
Phoina, who finished up her classes in 2020, set up her tailoring business right outside her home with the sewing machine and fabrics she received at graduation. With a big smile, she told us, “Now everyone in my community comes to me instead of going to a tailor in town. I can make almost anything, but dresses are my favorite. So many blessings have come to my life. I don’t yet have children, but I can now send my nephew to school; pay all my family’s medical bills; provide clothes for community children; and take care of all my needs. Before, I used to see people support their church and I could not . . . but now I can. I thank God for the people who brought this program and changed my life.”
Stella and Ginny are also 2020 graduates. They have set up tailoring businesses in their community trading centers. Both women radiate when they talk about how tailoring has changed their lives. Stella told us, “I used to walk five miles for the trainings, but I knew it was the opportunity God had given me. Now I have my own business selling fabric and making clothes for all the people around me. The Lord has taught me so much, especially how to hope!”
