Over 2,000 Children Learn How Much Jesus Loves Them at Holiday Camps
Kids come from everywhere when it’s time for Holiday Camps. Some are as young as four while others are about to finish their teenage years. Always, we do our camps deep in the village with few conveniences, but it doesn’t seem to matter. We have the shade of trees, great teachers, and kids who are eager to have fun and learn. At the end of our two-day camps, we have the added bonus of a cow being slaughtered and the anticipation of a great meal.
We conduct five Holiday Camps a year. Each one is in a different community with over 500 kids in attendance. Sometimes we wonder, “How are we going to feed and manage all these kids?” But it always happens, even if we have to scramble and kill another cow. It’s all so worth it when we see the smiles on the kids’ faces.
These camps serve a great purpose in our children’s lives. For many, these days are the highlight of their entire year. They play games; eat hot meals; drink soda (a treat they usually only have on Christmas Day); sing and act out worship songs; and, most importantly, they learn about Jesus. For many, it’s the time they ask Him to be the Savior and Lord of their lives. We thank God for Holiday Camps!
